When it comes to HPV with men, most guys want to know what are the symptoms and is there an HPV test for Men. The HPV warts usually appear in cauliflower shaped clusters on and around the penis or anus. It may take a long time to appear after sexual contact.
HPV Contraction
HPV, or human pappiloma virus, is spread through sexual contact with a partner who is infected with the virus. You can get the virus through vaginal, anal and even oral sex. There are over 100 different strains of the HPV virus with varying symptoms. The most common symptom is genital warts.
Spotting genital warts can be a horrifying experience. They can be present anywhere on the penis, anus or surrounding area. Most of the time they cause discomfort not pain, but it can be very embarrassing.
Testing
One of the most common questions in regards to HPV or genital warts is, how do I get tested for HPV? Unfortunately, there is no approved screening test for men at this time. The only test available is for women during a pelvic test or Pap smear. HPV in Men can be analyzed by the visual examination of penis and surrounding regions.
Treatments
If you’ve contracted genital warts, the follwing treatments are: topical medications, surgery, electrocautery, cryotherapy, laser, and acid treatments. Keep in mind that warts can reappear so treatments may not be permanently effective. It is likely that genital warts will disappear on their own. Most of the time the symptoms are not permanent.
